Coaching vs Personal Training

I spend most of my time personal training, but coaching is really important when someone needs helps navigating something like the menopause transition, lifestyle, or exercise as medicine.

A few things that I think go a long way in personal wellness and coaching are keeping track of symptoms, habits, and obstacles. For example, some symptoms experienced in the menopause transition that one could benefit from keeping track of are anxiety, genitourinary syndrome, depression, achy joints, energy levels, sleep, irritability, and any other symptoms that either feel intensified or different than your own personal norms. Some habits that are important to pay attention to are sleep hygiene, water intake and/or thirst, movement, and rest. Examples of obstacles could be time, energy, pain, work load, scheduling, neurodivergent triggers, behaviors, or executive functioning, being a parent or caregiver, taking care of an elderly or ailing parent or other family member, or anything else that disrupts someone’s life. Through coaching, we can figure all of this out together and make a specific plan that would benefit you the most.

On the other hand, if you’ve got everything under control and all you need is a workout then scheduling a session or class is a great option! Both take planning, work, and dedication but in different ways.
